Met up with Ricko at the airport...
While I was at work, I sms-ed Ricko, a french paris deaf guy who was on his way from Bali to Singapore that he had to wait for me. Then I rushed down to the Changi Airport Terminal 1 and tried to look for him. But I could not find him anywhere and I had to wait for his reply since he has not replied to me where his whereabout was.
Finally he sms-ed me that he was waiting at the Arrival hall outside Belt 20-23 and i rushed downstairs to look for him. Looking out for the familiar bald and tall person, I managed to catch a glimpse from afar and he was looking at the opposite direction. I walked up to his back hoping to give him a little nice surprise and he turned around before I tapped on his shoulder. He still looked the same as before but he is more clean shaven with his clean trimmed facial hair. It has been almost a year we have not met each other.
Then we took the cab to MYMCA where he would spend 4 nights before he flew back to Bali and then he would fly to Bangkok on 6th April. Along the way, we had so much things to catch up and we shared a lot of things about Singapore and Paris. He told me that he has not had any information about Singapore and I assured him that he would be able to gain background of Singapore quickly from hand-on experience.
Then after we check in the hotel, we chatted a bit while he shared his experience in Bali. Interesting antecdote about Bali and he mentioned that there was a big difference between Singapore and Bali in terms of living standard, people, and other aspects. He was simply impressed with cleanliness and politeness displayed by people. He said that when he arrived in the airport, he was simply surprised that everywhere is so clean and at the airport, he could find free internet. And I lent him my office laptop for him to check the email and chat with his sister on MSN. He was glad that he was able to chat online on broadband instead of dial-up connection in Bali which he experienced frustrating and intermittent delays in relaying message or downloading pictures.
Then we walked around in Orchard, City Hall, and walked all the way to Clarke Quay where we had a last drink at Hookers before we went home.
Quite a tiring day.
But come to think that I missed Paris a lot especially the beauty of "City of Life".
