I had met Raymond

As i was reading through old emails and I saw an email from Raymond, I suddenly remembered Raymond and emailed to him to catch up with him! See my previous posting here. Raymond sms-ed me that he would be going to Korea to film the big ships and he will be very busy with his preparation of his documentary film on big ship.

Today I arranged to meet up with him and he passed me the certificate of NUS Adventure Race. We formed a team of 3 with Frank, a German guy. Both of them are happily maried and Raymond has 2 big children. As we were chatting, Raymond asked me for the advice about Nepal. He is planning to go to Nepal in June but I explained to him that it may not ideal for him to travel during the moonsoon period from May to Sept. So, it is better for him to go to Nepal during November but too many climbers would throng the mountains there. So, the best way is to travel in middle of the winter like me really mad man! Have to endure freezing temperature up to -40 degree celsius and every time i tells my friend about it..they say u must be MAD!!!!!!!!!

Then Raymond asked me whether my bond with PSC has completed and I told him "Yes, and I am busy looking for jobs around." And I persuaded him to teach me how to use the camera to film the scenery, animals or actions..He has produced numerous documentary films in more than half of his life and I am so envious of his care-free spirit to travel to so many places to film places....Hee...

Final Journey of the Life towards Death....

Dedicated to the Last Days of Mohammad Abdooh

For the most part of our lives, we do not care to think about death. We are protected by the busyness of our lives, and the idea that we are somehow exempt from death until we reach an advanced age, contract a terminal illness, meet with an accident...or until we face the demise of a loved one. Death points us to the unpredictability and fragility of life - the physical and emotional suffering one undergoes when one faces death can be daunting and despairing. Yet one must not lose hope. No one should have to face the end of life alone, without any support. A dignified and pain-free death is possible, in more ways than one.

A project commissioned by the Singapore Hospice Council and the Lien Foundation, "Last Days of Mohammad Abdooh" aims to provoke us into thinking about end of life issues, and to raise awareness and understanding of the needs of people living with life-limiting diseases and their families. Filmed mostly in Mohammad Abdooh, this documentary consists of bi-monthly episodes that chronicles Mohammad's final journey, and reveals the amazing psyche of the resilient patient fighting the cancer, the tender love that underpins his life and most of all, it shows us the other side of the hospice we are oft times unaware of - the unconditional love and care that has been extended to Mohammad's family during those trying times.

Mohammad has dedicated his last days to us, in the hope that his story will not only transcend all divide among humanity, but it is a story that will inspire us when life delivers a punch too many. Mohammad is an inspiration for the living, the grieving, and the dying. From Mohammad, we learn that we may ever know how our story ends, but we know that love endures all the way to the end....

Let's join Mohammad on his final journey of his life....

Amazing extension to the Firefox website

As you know that I am currently struggling with Japanese especially horrendous kanji where you need to find out its meaning and its pronunication. Currently, I have to use the special Input Method Editor (IME) which u can download from the Microsoft website for free of charge and then I have to use the mouse to draw the kanji characters which I am not familiar with. Then I am able to deduce the hirangana meaning from the kanji characters and then I have to refer to my palmtop translator or refer to this useful website http://www.csse.monash.edu.au/~jwb/wwwjdic.html to find the meaning of that word. So "ley chey"!!!!!!

Now, I have done a little "window-shopping" at the "shopping mall" at the Mozilla.org to find any interesting adds-on especially for the language purpose. I find a very innovative extension which allows you to put your mouse cursor over an unfamilar kanji words and it will be able to cascade its meaning and all the related words and their accompanying meanings. See the printshot that I have pasted below. For example, i came across the word "響き”、””which I am not sure of. I can just place my mouse cursor over that word, and u can see the pop-up box that gives you a cascading list of meanings. Fantastic and so conveninet for me to find the meanings at a mere fingertip within seconds! Perhaps the screenshot could be a bit too small for you to see. Fret not, you can click on this image to show you a bigger version of the image.

Similarly for chinese, you can do the same thing for simplified and traditional chinese. See a screenshot for simplified chinese characters.

You can go to this website to download relevant softwares if you are interested in improving your japanese or chinese vocabulary. Good luck! http://perapera.wordpress.com
